Haha! She's actually a cranky old witch (who doesn't own a VW so unlikely to read this post) but she has a fetish for light planes and a superb newly sealed runway in Taralga. As mentioned not long enough to max the R. The little two litre runs out of "go faster" juice big time after about 180 clicks.
As for not spinning out and rolling? Yeh, I think I just got a little lucky! I had the sense to not fight the steering as the car swayed to the right. On a standard road I'de have been across the oncoming lane and off the road.
The only injury I suffered was after jacking up the car and undoing the bolts I grabbed the tyre to take it off and it burnt me. Man it was still so hot! Car smells of rubber from having it in the back for the next 24 hours.

In regards to the woeful visibility of the Roco, basically any new car from 2008 -> "requires" parking aids due to increased safety features = more metal and less glass so you basically can't see *****.

My brother's Mazda 6 is terible for visibility, you can't even tell where the front of the car is let alone the rear.
Agree! I don't have a rear-cam in the R but my wife's territory does and I recon it's easier to reverse-park her beast as a result

    90 TSI / 118TSI = 1.4l.
    GTI (TSI) = 2.0l EA888
    R (Golf, Scirocco) = 2.0l EA113

I'm fairly sure the EA888 and EA113 blocks are similar, but not the same (cooling channels, placement of mounts for pumps etc). So no, all different blocks.

Ouch. Driving from Chatswood to North Sydney just now. Passed two Golf R's that had broken down. That's about 1 every 4 Km. VW reliability issues still? Hopefully a fluke.

observation #724: I find that when I'm frustrated, annoyed, or just have the 5hits in general .. that there's nothing better than jumping in the R and giving 1st, 2nd and 3rd a good workout
