Well said! Do be warned though! My main reason for not considering the megane over the R was that my last two drives have been Renault sports and never again! Hard to love that "drivers car" involvement when the car spends half it's time in the Renault service centre getting everything fixed. Reliability is VERY poor.
The ford WILL fail, but at least they import parts to Oz

Nah mate, same thing really.. over servo'd brake pedal feel, crap steering feedback, ESP and I just am not a fan of the feel of the platform.. pretty sloppy chassis IMO.
I have been offered a drive of the Scirocco R though which I may just suss out

I hear ya adzy and agree

We passed an RS250 on the way up and it has great presence on the road and as you say, a drivers car

The R is a good all rounder but pretty soft and numbing.

VAG isn't known for reliability either so go for it

    Good luck mate

Yeh, I didn't think of the Roc. Be interesting to hear what you think of it after a drive. Isn't there a 2 door WRX subie coming out soon that is suppose to rekindle what they have let slip over the years?

Kind of surprised that the WRX wasn't in your mix of potential cars

I found the new WRX an agricultural implement. Christ it was rough and just cheap.

STI was better but still pretty average

Current model is a backwards step.

Style wise, well, in that regard they were never much.

I kinda like the new flared look, yes it is a bit portaloo on the inside but it is a bullet. The argument about style is a tricky one in this segement of the market, in all forms they have their paper bag angles

The new WRX likely to be here in OZ in 2013. Thought it was going to be this year though.

the existing STI is still very agricltural inside. Went to STI D/L yesterday and took a peek.
Still very pricey for a car to sit in traffic and not feel very special at all...
More opportunites have been lost from indecision, rather than wrong decision....
