Actually, the only other cleaner that gave a similar result was the Sonax - but its more expensive and i cant seem to find it in store anymore, perhaps its been discontinued?

Lucas, I rate the Sonax too, I like how it turns purple when doing its magic on the brake dust so you know it's working.

Sonax was being distributed by Penrite but it appears to have disappeared from their website, that and the fact my local Repco had all the Sonax stuff on the bargain table recently makes me think it isn't being brought in to Australia under the Sonax label any more.

However, if you look at 'Ford Car Care Wheel Cleaner' the bottle will look very familiar, it even says 'Manufactured by Sonax' on the front label.... Under the Ford banner it is much cheaper than Sonax too.

Yes - the one and only bottle i ever bought of the Sonax was on the bargain table at Repco a few months ago. And i saw it at my dealerships spare parts area (they have Ford stuff as well as about 10 other brands there), but it didn't have a price on it - so i didn't bother asking how much it was. Might next time though.

For the wheels on the R, i find Armour All "Wheel Cleaner" to be an excellent wheel cleaning spray.

I bought some of this some time back, and posted a question about it in the washing/detailing forum before cracking it open. A couple of the guys suggested it was too abrasive to be used repeatedly, and might damage the factory clearcoat on the rims if used. I haven't used it, so don't take this as a given, but you might want to read up on it just in case.

Has anyone managed to get voice control activated on the RCD510 in the R, or SMS. It is an option in the UK.

I also read that a MKVI GTI owner here in AU got voice control active on the RCD510.

I thought it was only on the RNS ?

A further question on the R

Anyone know what is entailed in removing the widened door sill trim ?

I want to loosen one side slightly and push it in a bit (hopefully there is some movement in the screw holes holding it on)

I see a few screws underneath but can't see what heads type they are.

You can turn it on in VCDS, assuming it's wired up properly, which for most retrofit BT looms is not the case.

SMS requires the 9WZ BT module and a phone that supports RSAP (remote SIM).

Has anyone made use of the storage area under the cargo floor ?

The R is shallower and as I don't have my car right now, I was wondering if anyone with an R has modified the foam to fit gear - how deep is it etc ?

I want to cut out bits of the foam to store detailing products etc.
