Nah not responsive enough and too much lag before they perform.

Better off getting a smaller model. Meatier down low.

Can anyone suggest tire pressures to run for track days for the Golf R with Dunlop Maxx GT's 18"? About 20C ambient.

I have tried 42 cold. 35 cold. 42 is too high for the rears as they crown too much. Handling seems poorer at 35. Any suggestions? I need to stick to road tires, can't change to R spec tires for track days.

I have had the R on the track twice now. It is very quick for a road car. At Qld. Raceway I am getting times similar to a couple of Nissan Skylines on R Spec tires and I am a novice on the track. I am very impressed with the performance AND so much FUN!! I even find leaving it in Sport mode does the trick regarding keeping the revs in the power band. A truly brilliant car.
What times wre you getting for the sprint, clubman, & national tracks mate? I gather yours is stock?

Big Dave also posted something about times @ QR but never replied with what they were.

Edit: Also what is the top speed you are seeing down the front straight?

Good info adzy but not what I was interested in

I managed to watch Big Daves run on the clubman and he was doing 69-70's which isn't bad. Some funny gearchanges thru the corner though from the DSG ???

Loving the R in the rain

Considerable rain out west today with localized flooding

The R was composed and planted under moderate acceleration at the lights and out of corners. Never had any concerns at all.

None of the axle tramp and front wheel spin like we used to get in our GTI.
