Wowsers, the Golf is more practical that I thought, I have just renovated my Laundry and I need a 2400 kickboard.. FYI you can get a 2400 plak of wood perfectly from the glovebox through to the boot lid perfectly

    Tired arguments I know.
The R is a great cat as is. Modify as you want.
Sorry, maybe I should have made the comparison clearer I was using a standard 6 cylinder Commodore and Falcon as a reference point,

we all know that there are any number of cars, suvs, bikes etc that are substantially faster and if we want to use all that performance you do it on a track.....

the issue wasn't whether or not you should modify it, it was discussing your point of "has excessive power and torque for road use.", yes I know you later said you meant excess not excessive

as for your street racers comment, ........

Well, excess and excessive for me I guess because I drive at 2/3rds. The way I have driven all my cars, even the Subie I owned before our GTI.

I understand why people are going for tunes, I did the same on my XT. With the R, personally, I don't see the point but go for it.

    Cheers

    I'm with you Candyman
A tune is not necessary if used just for the streets. Especially when taking into consideration possible problems down the track.
The car is more than quick enough around town
You can never have too much power but stock works well for me.
One day if I can afford a Porsche or similar I'll get one. But I like them stock as something always goes wrong eventually.

Also I notice with these tunes there appears to be no knock sensor. IF so, then that creates very high risk levels.

Rosey, where did you get this "no knock sensor" nonsense???

Fyi, when we tuned my car, the knock sensor was one of the critical components that was monitored to ensure safe levels of timing and boost.

Knock sensors are one of the critical components in modern fuel injection systems and are primarily used to adjust timing and prevent detonation.

Comment by all means but makes informed comments and dont just use words you heard during the day without understanding them.

    Rosey,

    What is stoich?

Forget that, lets talk about something important. Have you got a non slip liner in the boot for groceries? I bought some stuff from Bunnings and it's really good. Then again the non slip stuff only comes into effect if cornering at anything more than slight.

Sure. One of our cardigan wearing fraternity detailed this in the Accessories thread.

    It looks the goods too.

    Relax!!
I put the word "IF" in there. I did that because I do not know whether it does or does not.
From the hostile responses I would take that as a "yes" it does have a knock sensor.

Very briefly then can you tell me if the sensor merely retards the engine or actually give you some sort of warning.

And please don't get so riled by such an innocent post.
    cheers

lol, Your harsh, funny but harsh! What the stoick is stoick?! I hope your not talking about anything to do with afr's, egt's etc...

Btw, I love my non slip liner because my stuff for work doesn't end up all over the boot after a few corners!
