Bull****. Car should be zipping past the xr5 on the straight no worries.

    A couple of questions then.

What is different between the GTi motor & the R donk? I see the compression is slightly more and heard something about a steel timing chain??? Is the bottom end the same?

Also has anyone been able to log the torque split with the haldex unit thru various situations? I read somewhere it can split up to 100% rear which is good Pity there is no manual overide to lock in what you want, but anyway...What ratio is straight line for instance at a constant 100km for example.

Also regarding oil changes has anyone bothered to do a 6 monthly change themselves?

    Cheers Paul

It's all to the front if there's no slip detected/no output from the stability control, that's how I understand it.

    Gavin

    EDIT
Not quite zero to the rear. Cut from the Wiki:

The XWD system can transmit 100 percent of available torque to either the front or rear wheels. However, for those conditions to occur one end of the vehicle would have to lose all traction, like driving on ice for instance. During a standing start the rear wheels are put to use, without the need for any slip to occur. Then under straight-line cruising conditions, to conserve fuel and driveline wear, the torque split to the rear wheels is reduced to a level between 5 and 10 percent. Also up to 85 percent of torque can be transferred by the eLSD between to any single rear wheel if necessary. The system can adjust torque splits based on calculated conditions, such as those that indicate an aggressive lane change manoeuvre, to effectively reduce oversteer or understeer without any wheel slip occurring. In the event that some wheel slip does actually get to occur, the system can react more timely and efficiently than in the past. [6]

    Cheers Gavin

Any others for my other questions?

One more thing as well, I haven't read anything about it but is there any variable cam timing? I'm thinking not as haven't seen it mentioned in the tuning section either.

You'll find more information if you research EA888 and EA113.
EA888 is the engine series in the MK6 GTI. EA113 is the engine series in the MK5 GTI and MK6 Golf R (as well as Audi S3).

The EA888 is a total new design and not a progression of the EA113.
Additionally, there are internal differences between the EA113 used in the K03 turbo based engines (MK5 GTI) and K04 turbo based engines (MK6 R and S3).

In relation to the variable cam timing, some of the Audi versions of the EA888 have what they call "Valve Lift" which gives 350Nm instead of 280Nm from the non valve-lift versions. I'm not sure if that is the type of thing you're asking about though.

    Cheers for that.

Is the valve lift variable, in that it is tuneable? I ask as there where significant gains to be had with the cam timing in the subarus.

Edit: According to wiki it has variable intake cam adjustment - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...petrol_engines
A question for the tuning section then.....

Golf R MY10, - MY12, which build date defines what?

I've searched here & google to no avail. What build dates define MY10, MY11, MY11.5 & MY12 for the Golf R?
