With ya Corey, though you have to admit a stock XR5 taking a modded R this way is hard to swallow

Well, I'd hardly say that it's "taking" anything It's just that Big_Dave isn't able to use the benefits of the R to overtake the XR5... catch, but then not overtake....

    Thanks Corey.

Perhaps it was the perspective the video? As silverfox said, it's a tad hard to swallow that a stage 2 R can barely keep up with a stock XR5

I always thought the XR5 competed against the GTI, and the RS Focus was compared to the Golf R. I once followed an XR5 down the Reefton Spur and had no problems keeping up (different conditions, driver, and all that jazz, though).

At the same time we've got other members who have been overtaking Porsche 911's and Ferrari F430's etc.
Does this by extension make a stock XR5 quicker than a Ferrari F430? Of course not.....
There are lots of variables in these things, and no one knows truly what they except for the driver of each of those cars (and even then, they might not be aware of all the variables )

Given a can't see the vid, was he close by coming onto the straight? Maybe ran a **** line out of the last turn onto the straight as well losing speed overall. Curious to know top speed before turn 1 as well Big Dave, if you managed to read it?

Haven't looked in the tuning section yet but I guess a Stage 2 is ~200kwatw?

Yep. Too many variables to really call.

XR5 driver may nailed the last corner and got it perfect whereas Dave may have been baulked by a slower car etc etc

I passed an XR5 (modified) on my bicycle at QR - mind you I got a better run out of turn six than he did & I slip-streamed & stuck it up the inside of him on turn one

Lets forget 1/4 times due to AWD grip compared to FWD lack of.

    Stock XR5's do 93 - 95MPH
    Stage 2 Golf R's do 101 - 103MPH

    correct?

    And stock/stage 1's do around 98-100mph?

Last week at Sandown, Fab (who ran 106mph?) would pull away from me on the straights and that was with him not going really hard given I was able to get back near him under brakes and cornering.

If an XR5 is nearly 10mph down on a stage 2 R, something is wrong....or maybe it's accurate and the product is more marketing fluff than substance.....
