Several times i've had the alarm go off while the car is parked outside the office. All windows are up and the car is locked so there shouldn't be anything to set it off.
You don't have rear view mirror Dice do you

Seriously though, my MKV alarm used to go off in our carpark. No idea why.

I moved it down a level and it never happened again ?

Well at least i'm not the only one then.
It's not a multi-level carpark, just solid ground outside the office windows, so i can see the car from my office.
I know about the sensor and the button, but it seems weird to have to turn it off. It's not often enough to worry about at present, but will get them to check it out at the first service in another 2000 kms.

    hey guys

I have a question regarding the Golf R's rear taillights (and GTI adidas too for that matter)

The Tail light as you know are made up of 2 pieces each side. Outer and Inner. Now, when its during the day and your headlights arent on and when u apply the brake, the OUTER tails light up to indicate you're braking. When you turn on your headlights or even your parkers (which only dims the LED's on the Golf R's but illuminates the interior), the INNER tails are activated as well as the outers. But again, when you apply the brakes, its only the OUTER tails that light up brighter.

What I'm wondering is, is it possible for the INNER tails to also light up in the exact same brightness as the OUTER tails when the brakes are applied? i.e can it be activated so that during the day (no headlights) when you press the brakes BOTH INNER and OUTER lights up, and at night (headlights on), both turn on as per normal but again, when pressing brakes, both tails light up?

reason why im asking is because I saw this :

Is there a VAGCOM code or something that can be activated?

I've certainly not seen anything stephen. You may wish to ask the question in the LED Tailights thread, as those guys have installed the lights themselves and had to play around with VCDS coding to get them to work etc. Maybe one of them knows of something (I'm thinking like Ozram or AdamD etc)... they're Comfortline and GTI boys and aren't necessarily looking in this thread

Course I'm looking in this thread Corey... gotta keep up with the Joneses.

Stephen, I'd say it's an attribute of the central electrics controller, and so is probably configurable... but I can't say for sure. I'll take a look next time I'm playing around in VCDS and report back. If you're in a hurry, PM Dana @ Ross Tech. (Mine behave as yours do, btw.)

I will say, though, that it's been set this way because that's how the ADRs require it. (I've had experience of SEVS workshops needing to code/wire up tail lights to behave this way on cars brought in from Japan.) So if you do manage to change it, and a keen-eyed cop picks it up... just sayin', be aware.

I would like to know if there is a way to keep the LED DRLs at their brightest settings at all times. I don't like how they dim down when the xenons fire up....

    gday adam.
im not all that good with fiddling around with electric stuff nor do I have any exp with VAGCOM but im in no hurry. However if you can have a look at it i'd really appreciate that.

And re: the cops, i highly doubt they would pull you over for something like that. Lots of other ****heads on the road to keep them busy for the time being so I think we're in the clear (touch wood)

+1 Although having them at 100% brightness while the Xennons are on would also mean that they might stay on full brightness when you indicate left/right? I wouldn't mind having my LED DRL's bright at all times too! (only dimming while indicating).

I've noticed on some Audi's with LED tails that even the tail light cluster dims when the indicator goes on.. I haven't tested it on my tails, does anyone know if this happens with the R tails too?

I don't know the specifics of the ADR's, but the other night I was travelling behind a new Kia Sorento. The LED tail lights came on both on the hatch and the sides and were so bright that I had to cover my eyes!

No joke, there are a total of 40 bright LEDs shining into your eyes! It's MASSIVE OVERKILL!
