My posts on this were to get rid of the fuel economy info in the display and give us some performance related gauges.

I give my car plenty of stick, hang on to gears a bit a longer and ignore that stupid recommended upshift thing. Plenty of battles with some friends who have Porsche's and a TVR.

I still haven't seen less than 450 from a tank. Mostly city/suburban commute.

Made it back from Coffs, so maybe 600 odd kms, on just under half a tank including a run on the Wootton Way. Dunno what others are doing to their cars to get much lower consumption.

Sorry... but there's no way you did 600km on 30L of fuel. That's 5L/100km, which is just wishful thinking for an R

Looking at my R this morning and I noticed that the brake pads have worn a little into the discs is an uneven way. When I run my fingers over it the discs feel bumpy as though the pads have damaged them a bit. I have only done 750km's and haven't been thrashing it. Shouldn't the discs remain relatively smooth?

Let me rephrase. The fuel gauge was showing a smidge under half a tank left. Went down once I hit the city again. Went down quite quickly indeed, but I did average around the 6.5-7 mark for the trip. Can't remember the details as I honestly don't pay that much attention. I just noticed that it was good ecoomy for that run.

I went for a drive down the GOR on Saturday since I was working nearby the night before, which turned into quite a thrash due to the equally eager Commodore driver behind me. With the exception of the 60kph zones I was never above 4th gear (sport mode), yet still couldn't get the average fuel consumption for that trip above 7.3l/100k. The road, while not in the best condition, was actually better than I expected, to the extent that I had no recollection of going through Apollo Bay and wondered why a certain sign said the next town was Port Campbell The road seemed a lot longer the last time I was on it more than a few years ago when I was a back-seat passenger.

Not really.. just draft a truck for a while and you'll see how much fuel you can save. should be able average less than 5/100 easy.
