I put in the Liqui Moly (5W30 TOP TEC 4200 MOTOR OIL) and will be buying another bottle to give the guys for my first actual service in 4000kms. http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/foru...tml#post642538

I know its really frustrating that there is no sealed pod filter intake available for the R, the fact that all the pod ones except the Gruppe M require removal of the engine cover sucks. With regards to the mk5 vs mk6 fitment I think this is because they are just using mk5 intakes and not even modifying the design for the mk6.

If you look at the part numbers the mk5 gti intake is exactly the same as that for the R, probably why it doesn't have that nice line up with the top edge along the headlight.

Google it, there is a mob up your way that sells online. I know Corey got it from wherever he did the mods and have heard others say that SCA stocked it. I got mine from the local Autobarn. Gotta head back in as they have a sale on, hoping the oil is included in that.

Does the average fuel consumption reading reset everyday or something? Im not getting the average so far over the last few days. I want to know what its like with fuel economy over a long period of time not just a day! Any info?

Take some time to read the owners manual. There are lots of features in a VW which aren't on many other manufacturer's cars - especially non-euros.
You have two "trip meters" - 1 and 2. The 1st trip meter lasts for that trip, or any subsequent trips within 2 hours of the last one. The 2nd trip meter lasts until you manually reset it, by holding enter. You switch between 1 and 2 by pressing enter on any item which has the 1 or 2 marker.

I read that thing from cover to cover already

What I noticed is that one trip meter is for instant fuel economy figures, while the other is for average, but the average resets after a few hours of non use. I could be wrong, I might have another look through the book.

Another excuse to take the car for a drive hehe!

lol.. yes, you are wrong. But that's ok. Check out the manual again, whilst sitting in the car.
There is an instant fuel consumption. But there are TWO averages. Just the same as there are two travel times, and travel distances etc etc. You'll see what I mean when you look again
