hey buzuki,
Thanks for the reply. Good to know it was built this year.
I do have a follow up question, would this be a MY12? even if it was built this year? (as opposed to a MY11 built in 2011)
It is the model code.
The 11 at the end it the build year

It will be MY12 if it is built from June onwards. If you are signing a contract for one on the forecourt it will be MY11 I would imagine. If you plan on waiting months for the delivery it will probably be MY12. Best to check with your dealer before you sign.

What Ozram said
That's good that the dealer explained that to you. Because the /11 in the code is not the build year but the model year. But as the dealer said, you can't put it in until some admin person updates the order system. But either way, all cars after a set date are built to the new spec, as per Ozram's post.
I'm looking at changing my oil soon for its service. I want to provide the service guys with my own oil and been looking at ROYAL PURPLE.
1) Anyone else use any other brands?
2) What viscosity do our Golf R's use? I want to buy the proper viscosity ROYAL PURPLE oil for my Golf R. 5w 30?
Good info in the fuel & lube section of the forums. Make sure whatever you uses has the VAG approval/certification. So many do that it isn't worth using one that "meets" the standards but hasn't bothered to get it certified.
I put in the Liqui Moly (5W30 TOP TEC 4200 MOTOR OIL) and will be buying another bottle to give the guys for my first actual service in 4000kms. http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/foru...tml#post642538
Just thought any of those waiting on the revised pod filter style Carbonio intake for the R might be intereested in this...VWVortex.com - APR Presents: APR's NEW 2.0T FSI S3/Golf-R K04 Turbocharger System!
It seems they have stopped looking at producing this until the R comes out in the US...bummer.
Looks like I'll be forking out for a Gruppe M now
Golf R 3dr, UG, Black 19's, DSG, Leather, ACC
Yeah - it's disappointing that Arin wasn't able to do more. It's disappointing because the BSH, Nuspeed, K&N, Forge TwinTake and VF K04 intakes are all illegal by Australian standards. They're meant to be sealed off from the engine, some make some attempt, by some don't even bother trying. The Gruppe M makes the best attempt of the lot, though on the MK6 it's not as convincing as in the MKV.
Whilst it might be unlikely that a cop would pull anyone in a Golf R over and open up the engine bay, I just wouldn't want to take the chance and have to go to an inspection centre, for them to only then have a go at any other mods...
The Carbonio intakes have no question in their legality, as they are completely sealed to the OEM air-inlet.
