Yes its a quick little car that one. A hatchback with a few bolt ons keeping up with some of the worlds finest dedicated mid engined (some of them) sports cars is very impressive. Good driving as well which always helps:

I've got a silly question about the accelerator pedal.

When you floor it completely, there is a "click". Is this amount of throttle any different from when you floor it right before it clicks? Or does the click mean WOT?

GOLF R FTW on this page! That thing around the track sounds incredible! And the R in the crash won! (not exactly a competition but I'll bet on anything!)

No. It's exactly the same. As per the owners manual (seriously, it's in there, every time I talk about this feature "new to VW" people think I'm making it up), the "click" is you going past 100% throttle and hitting the "kick down button". When you're in M mode on the DSG, you can give it 100% throttle in ANY gear, and as long as you don't go past the "point of resistance" and hit that kick down button, it WILL NOT change down gears.

Thanks Corey! Seriously, VW should hire you as their part time Golf MK6 technical advisor.....

Top effort alright, and Hans Stuck has done a 8:23 at the Nordschleife with a bone stock Golf R putting it ahead of some impressive machinery. Here is the link to an awesome website full of real track data of stock production cars.... http://http://www.fastestlaps.com/cars/vw_golf_r.html

Just found these black Talladegas on eBay.

Interesting to know that the R wheels are made by Borbet...hmm....

    EDIT:

How do we know that the R wheels are made by Borbet?
