Volkswagen Golf R hatch range - First drive: New VW Golf R lands from under $50,000 | GoAuto
Hey guys - I searched this thread but it doesn't look like this question has been asked yet.
Does anybody know what boost the Golf R runs from the factory? Is it 1.2bar?

bummer my post disappeared! i was wondering if anyone else had the "farting / blip / bass" sound each time they came off throttle? i'm assuming it's normal as there appears to be nothing wrong with the car. can anyone else shed some light?

Yes. It's long been a feature of VW "sport" cars in combination with the DSG
cheers Corey! it gets a little annoying sometimes!

Coming off the throttle, you say? Farts on the overrun?
My GTI will make the regular pops/farts on power upshifts, and a little on a rev-matched downshift, but I don't recall having heard anything similar when I'm getting off the throttle. Does this only happen when you're backing right off suddenly at high revs?

With the APR tune + intake done, I get the 'blow off' sound now which I never noticed before.
Even then I only hear it if I let go of the throttle on boost.

I have noticed the same "bass" sound, on overrun in a manual
It's definately not a DSG fart, it's very subtle.
I thought it might be an exhaust harmonic, but it's almost always 1sec after lifting off the throttle, regardless of RPM.
Only other things i can think that might cause this are DV or exhaust flap?
