Back in June when i got my R, RACV had to do the policy as an R32.

This morning i decided to call them to see if the have the R listed yet and alter my policy.
The Golf R Mk6 doesnt even exist as far as they are concerned...WTF.

The online quote generator for RACV has the R on there. Maybe you need to ring back RACV and speak to someone else to help you out.

Well said. Market value is a joke (GIO list my spec as $55k). New for old has a catch as explained and if that fails, they will give you the market or agreed value. I paid an extra $50 or so and bumped mine upto their max agreed value of 66k. I paid way less than that but it ensures I don't loose out if they can't replace it.

I'll be using mine for the fun of it, not because someone is next to me!

Fab, I was able to do an online quote with them but the price wasn't that great. I use GIO for the R and my home/contents. Their online pricing is really good as is the cover. Give them a shot mate. The missus Polo is with AAMI but I'll be changing it to GIO as well as they're only $100 more but FAR better policy! Regardless of who you go, you'll have to ring them anyway with the mods. Maybe do a basic online quote to capture the car etc, then ring with the quote # and fine tune the details.

Edit: Oh I never ordered/paid for MDI but it's there. Had 2 breakout cables in the console so I've just been using the USB one to charge my phone hehe. The other one looks like an iPhone/iPod connector, would this be the one to allow full control of an iFail device from the headunit or do you need another cable on top of that?

RACV rang back and said they have it now on their system, strange.
But i will get a quote from GIO also. Thanks for the lead.

Bonus on the MDI being fitted.
I didnt realise you can charge the iPhone from it, bonus!

BTW, It will allow only music browsing on iPhones, not the rest of the phone functions unfortunatly.

Ah thats ok, I won't be using it, was just curious if that tiny little adapter is what people were spending another ~$70 on.

When i got my quote from Shannons, they didn't have the R in the system (June)
they priced up a GTI at the same insured value and said that they would honour that price, as they were confident it would be similar/same price.

I got quotes from Shannons and NRMA. NRMA ended up being better, even on their "comprehensive plus" package. Also, NRMA dont' care about modifications anymore. Their statement is "as long as the vehicle would pass RTA inspection, go for it". So yeah, all you peeps you are talking about lowering your cars and doing brake upgrades, just make sure you consult an engineer

just received a call from my dealer, my black won't be ready today... whats a another day after waiting 173 odd. I raised the issue of the passenger side leather on the seat not being tight enough. the dealer suggested that a lot of Golfs are similar.... and so it begins.

Shannons were dearer for me too and wouldn't do the agreed value I asked either. No concern with the brakes here, they're epic!

I recall a chat about the 19's and rubbing on the front. Was it to do with those little fender attachements for ADR? I was doing a bit of a run on my lunch break today and turning left quite hard at speed with some gentle bumps, heard some rubbing from the front.
