I understand from a post by Corey_R circa 21/11/10
"MY11 Changes Relevant to Golf R (Week 22, 2010) - Hill Start Assist (HSA) is now standard for all manual models"
So how do I get HSA to work on my manual R?

if its anything like the mk5, it engages when you release the brake pedal on an incline. you'll know its activated when you press the brake again and it feels solid.

To use the HSA, you need to be in first gear with your foot on the clutch, and brake simultaneously.
When you release the brake, it will hold the same braking intensity for 1.5sec
Just enough time to get the revs right and find the friction point.

That's a bonus, I didn't know it was on a manual, understood only DSG. I'll give it a try...

Hey Guys, another daily question from me.
I was speaking to a friend of mine regarding a sunroof. I am still contemplating getting one, however he believes that a sunroof negatively affects the performance of the car. He believes that due to the physics of the car not being as rigid as it would if it was a one piece roof as apposed to a variety of pieces/panels etc with a sunroof it takes away power from the car. We are not talking specifically about an R but all cars in general. I can understand his point to an extent but I am not totally convinced.
Views/opinions and thoughts...
Thanks
