Obviously its tinted, but there is more than one way to achieve that. The VW tint is actually in the window glazing, it's not a separately applied film, so it can't be removed. But again... you can find all the info you want in the tint thread
if it's not dealer installed (factory) then it is built into the glass making process so you cant remove the tint, cos it's not a film.
you have to replace the whole glass with a clear one. most japanese cars these days are like that, they call it privacy glass - they're usually on the back only as in most countries it is illegal to tint the front side windows.

Hey, any real world times for the Golf R (or GTI) at the 1/4 mile, such as Eastern Creek.
I dont mind reading the brochures and stuff but I would love to know what a stock, DSG Golf R/GTI does.
2010 MY11 GOLF R - 5DR | DSG | RISING BLUE | DYNAUDIO + ACC + BLUETOOTH + 19s + RNS510 |
2017 MY17 TIGUAN HIGHLINE - 5DR | DSG | PEARL BLACK | SUNROOF + DAP |
A good question this one mate, was never able to break 14 secs in either of my WRX's while in stock form so hoping the Golf R will be well into the 13's.![]()
MY11 Golf R - Rising Blue - 5DR - DSG - 19" Black OZ Ultralegerra - Leather - Sunroof - MDI - Euro Plates - Milltek Exhaust - Bluefin - SOLD
MY11 Tiguan 147 TSI - DSG - Pepper Grey - Black Leather - RVC - MDI - BT
You could look up times for the Audi S3... they've been around an awful lot longer than the R, so probably more people have information on them...
Well its not really the same now is it..And I guess that could give you an idea. But I dont want an idea, I already have that. I would love to know what an R does, straight out of the box stock.
Do they weigh the same at least?

Actually, they are pretty much the same.
Same weight, power, gear ratios,brakes......can't get much closer than that.
Only .4 of a second difference around Wakefield with the same driver.
From what I've seen, the "dual clutch" version of the Evo isn't significantly faster than the manual (if at all). The Auto version of the STI is lower (same as the non-STI WRX in 0 to 100), and the DSG is significantly faster than the manual - 0.6 second average quicker in 0 to 100, so over the 400m it's easily enough to take the crown between those three...
Motor Magazine August 2010 issue has the Golf R DSG time of 13.65 for the 400m and 5.37 0-100.
