    Power steering intermittent fault

But it only happens after driving when the battery should be charged. On the other hand, I've had no problems when starting it from cold after leaving it unused for days i.e. when I'd expect a battery problem to show up.

spray the contacts of the plug that goes into the power steering with contact cleaner and ensure they are shiny/good contact.

Clean the battery +ve & -ve terminals & also where they connect to the body/fuse block.

Check any fuses & relays associated with the power steering. If the fuses are cheap enough, replace them.

It sounds like there's a resistance somewhere. Generally, resistance increases as the joint heats up.

Thanks - that makes more sense (at least to me). It only happens when parking after driving but not when idling e.g. at traffic lights. Could using Reverse gear somehow precipitate this issue?

I've searched the web for info on the identification of which fuses relate to the power steering without success. I also wasn't able to identify the plug that connects to the power steering after a brief inspection. Is this information available on the web?

Well if that info isn't in your manual the next place to check would probably be https://erwin.volkswagen.de/erwin/

So I've had my Golf R for close to a year now.

I am still loving the power on it and I never get tired revving it and hearing the pops.

I bought mine second hand and the previous owner had his 18" painted gloss black. For some reason i'm still not feeling it against the RB colour.

Thinking of changing them wheels to the new 18" Rotary that got released with the MK7's as part of the accessories range:

Would coincide with a need to get new rubbers for my car.

You could just wrap the car in the performance shade i.e white and then the rims would look fine

Haha that is true... but a wrap would probably end up more than a new set of wheels?

which reminds me... I might have to give you a call some time about a tune. I live down in Sans Souci and I've been researching on tunes for my R and I heard you're the man!
