Yeah they usually get a small allocation and will sell for low prices just happy to move another unit. Thought of it before but usually save it for when the city dealers don't want to play ball. Had no issues this time, other than the wait.

Thanks for the replies guys, I think I'll give them a call tomorrow and ask some careful questions, to be honest I don't mind the wait as I think the car is worth it, I just want to make sure they aren't telling me fibs. Will update you guys as soon as I hear back from them tomorrow.
Yeah $10K is a solid saving though for a launch car. I got maybe $8K which is awesome, but I copped a 6 month wait!
So far Im happy with my dealer though. So no regrets.
Damn Pepe ....you have let the secret out!!!!!!!!!
I live in country NSW and have bought my last 3 cars from the local dealer....mark5 gti followed by r36 sedan folllowed by r with minimal delay in all three.
I took delivery of the r in the first batch released into aussie and have now done almost 6000ks. My only compromise in the specs desired was no ACC. Not only was the guy excellent to deal with but I also got a decent discount! Suffice to say I do not deal with city dealers anymore.
That's another good point benjmin, the service both before and after sale from regional dealers I've found to be fantastic... the dealer will actually talk to you AFTER you buy the car, unlike a lot of city dealers ;)
I reckon every 2nd person could give a good and bad example of the dealers. Eg, Barloworld G/W who we'd purchased from before, INSISTED that the R was NOT available with race/recaro/whatever other name I tried. Not now, not ever. They lost another sale.
I'm happy to deal with a salesperson who admits they're not sure, after all a quick follow up call with the right info can set everything straight. But if you're gonna insist I'm wrong when I know I'm not.....bye
