Thanks so much for the reply.
Never had any issues with the DSG in the Polo - It's been fantastic. We just wanna go back to manual!
Hi Mate, nah no issues really at all, both DSG and Manauls are pretty rock solid in the MK6 R, ACC or Adaptive Chassis Control is a nice bit of gear, works really well, having said that the stock suspension improves a lot with just a set of springs. When buying a modded car make sure you get all the details on whats been done and by who in case you need to make changes later on. No electrical issues that i know of. Some of the 2010 build cars have had Haldex issues but are usually sorted under warranty and never an issue again.
Also note that the DSG in the R is totally different to the one that is in the Polo GTI if you had any issues, Polo is a 7spd dry clutch version and the R is a 6spd wet clutch, no issues, Hope that helps

Any issues would already be documented in this thread (happy reading)
Haven't heard much though so you should be pretty safe.
I recently sold my metallic grey (United grey) 2011 Golf R in manual that was tuned to stage 2+. Clutch was still holding up ok when i sold the car at 26,000km's, but it will have a reduced life at that power and torque level.
No issues with the mechanical side of the car (engine / gearbox etc) - everything was rock solid.

My stage 2 manual slipped a lot when gunning it onto a freeway, I.e the extra torque load in the higher gears (4,5 and even a bit in 3) would be too much for the stock clutch. I have a better clutch assembly sitting here waiting to go in, just not the time to organise someone to do it at the moment..
No real other troubles (except...normally my car is garaged, but the garage is being used for something else at the moment, and all the Sydney rain we had in the past week has somehow made it to under my rear mats, suspecting sunroof is letting it in?)

Just bought a 2010 Golf R.
Wondering about the head unit. Is there a way to get it to stream music from your phone? Can't seem to be able to. It's got GPS and Bluetooth if that helps?
Hi guys,
I'm new to this forum.
I recently purchased a second hand Golf R MK6 (2013 model) in manual, it still has less than a year left of warranty.
When the car idles, I can hear a slight rattle noise coming from the engine compartment. It is most evident in my garage as there are no outside noise interference. When I press the clutch pedal that rattle noise disappears, but, when I release the clutch pedal, it comes back. It's a different rattle noise then the engine noise. Not sure if it's the clutch plate or the flywheel that's causing it.
Does anyone know what it could be?
& would this will be covered under VW warranty?
Thanks.
If it changes with the clutch in/out it could be thrust bearing.
As I am selling the R soon (S3 on order) I decided to try a few launch control runs.
Not sure why but there is no RPM restriction on the LC (there used to be). The only thing that has changed was a service at the local VW dealer.
Bloody hell, it is quick off the mark and a lot of FUN !
I'll return to my normal driving.
The tune probably removed the limiter
