Need a better in car cam
VW have done well with the exhaust and intake noise. Not sure why, but our R sounds a lot nicer than the demos we drove.

Interesting gear changes - were you in D, M, or S?
It does sound nice.

Sounds slightly different to mine, I don't have the torque drop in the gear shift that I hear coming through. Thought the exhaust note is the same you can't here the induction hiss..

[/COLOR]Just came back from a trip up to Port Macquarie, thats about 4 hours each way. This was the first opportunity to give the R a run with the upgraded tune. Just for back ground Parso found an issue with the Torque limiter and applied the new software a few weeks back which has made the tune very smooth, especially notice it the gear changes under load.
As usual the R proves to be a fantastic GT, very comfortable and the ride, although quite dull on quality freeways, is great for the all rounder. I find that the NVH is very good, the tyres sound at speed does come through but hardly anything that requires the stereo to be adjusted to accommodate.
It was laden with holiday kit for 2 for 3 days, not a true holiday load but enough for me to feel the difference. Performance is quite amazing post 110, should you need to over take the haste it which it delivers with very little throttle application is a tad concerning. The gear shift is noticeable as the needle whips around to the South east. Also if you have a suicide jockey come up behind and you need to maneuver quickly to get into the left lane around any other vehicles the shove in the back is quite unexpected.
I got caught in the gridlock just north of Heatherbrae on Friday where a car carrier ( taking Maseratis no less ) had burst into flames on the highway and burnt out the truck and it's load completely. This caused a bank up for about 10 clicks, I can tell you a hot R stuck in 28 degrees in crawling traffic is not happy. I found listening to the engine it started to develop a odd intermittent vibration and irregular idle. Oil temps only crept up to 93 degrees. Got round that in about 45 minutes and once again with clean air she settled back down.
Only other noteworthy observation is coming home once I made the end of the freeway and changed back from the 110 clicks for the past 2 hours and was amongst heavy traffic the throttle response became very doughy. This hasn't presented for a long time, I can only guess the ECU has to recalibrate to the change in driving conditions.. or I had gotten very used to the light touch acceleration at high speed on the highway.
Anyway she is now cooling down and I expect her to be off her game after 2 very long runs in 3 days over the next couple of trips.

I do an hour of freeway running a day and haven't noticed anything like that.
Also do regular trips to Canberra sitting at 110-ish and haven't noticed it either. Bit odd...
