More power output requires more input so yes, using what bluefin offers will clearly increase fuel consumption

If you have more torque you won't need to rev the car as much so you won't increase your fuel bills (unless you floor it a lot)

I drove sedately to Melb Airport this morning then went back home the (very very) long way in sport mode, through twisties, mountains, etc and the Avg Fuel Consumption (1) reading was 6.9l per 100kms (the official average for the stock car is 6.5l).

Your engine isn't anywhere near run in yet - keep hammering it. As i wrote earlier, mine continued to improve right through to 15,000km. I would recomend you reset "avg consumption 2" and see how it goes & also start recording fuel usage (there are some phone apps that you can use if you don't like setting up spreadsheets).

I've got Bluefin & my economy is better than stock because I can ride the torque curve rather than revving the engine a couple of thousand rpm higher. Depends on the car/driver/conditions, etc though.

What the others have said... overall you will probably see a decrease in fuel consumption, simply cause you don't need to press the pedal as far, or rev it as high, to move the same speed, due to the better torque etc. If you are on the limit on a race track, you'd probably use more though.

Not as simple as that at all

The AFRs are considerably different and I can think of no circumstance where anyone that modifies with a flash of the ECU map would not be using more power. Torque in itself requires rpm, or the power formula has suddenly been changed by someone

    Physics, dammit

Well, in all 3 of my VW's which have been flashed, fuel consumption has dropped slightly... I know that there are dozens of other members who also have experienced this after flashing their VWs too... but you're entitled to your opinion

i fully understand what you are saying.
For like-for-like throttle inputs I'm sure I'd be using more fuel but I can put my hand on my heart & say that fuel consumption improved when i added bluefin. Keep in mind that the torque is artificially limited (250Nm on my car) with the stock tune.

Back in the day when I had my 3.6L XT Falcon economy improved heaps (like 38mpg on country trips) when I fitted extractors, dual system & a 350 Holley (going into the standard cast-in manifold FFS), water injection, msd6 & re-curved the advance. OTOH, I can think of half a dozen other cars i had that drank like fish before & after mods.

    Hi Guys,
Had a fun day at Qld Raceway Wednesday.
    Time attack sprints day.
This is a local group who has about 14 meets a year.
    Great concept.
Staggered starts, not allowed to overtake except on the straight. No Hooligans tolerated, and Very well run event with medical support on the track should it be required.
    Enjoy the Video.
Golf R Stage 2+, I had street boots on and no suspension mods.
Couldn't overtake the stock xr5 on the straight but easily caught him on the rest of the track as he was braking way too early for corners.
this was my first run, so please excuse the driving lines.LOL.
