Good to see others are getting similar figures to me. I generally get between 450-500km per tank with mainly city style stop start driving. Have not taken it out on the freeway too much for extended periods of time to see what I can get out of a tank. Initially I was concerned about this figure, but in the end my fuel consumption is no greater than my previous car which required PULP also, but the Golf R has so much more power and fun to drive it does not bother me. Conclusion - I have come to learn that I will never really believe the consumption figures given my car manufacturers.

Maybe your engines aren't run-in yet?

The Skoda was getting mid-7s in the first 5000km, then dropped to high 6s (like flicking a switch) & continued to improve right through to 25,000km when it levelled off.

At a guess, are the people with the worst economy running (heavy) 19" rims? I know my economy took a hit when I went from 16s to 17s & gained 1kg per corner & took another hit when I fitted the Audi rims and gained another 1kg per corner.

Plus all the usual other stuff like:
    *AirCon on 24/7
    *Boot full of crap
    *Low tyre pressures
    *roof racks
*Ambient Temperature - Winter I use about 15% more fuel than summer.
*Wet Weather - you'll get about a 1l/100 hit from wet roads
*Traffic conditions - my usual commute i average 6.7L/100 but if I hit stop/start traffic it goes up to 10L/100
*Not reading traffic conditions, blah, blah, blah

I have no idea how you guys achieve such low fuel consumption. Mine is sitting on 14.8L/100KM. I drive around Sydney most of the time. A full tank gives me around 360kms. I do have a bluefin installed not sure if that would affect it?

Driving style (AC on, hard on and off accelerator, not reading traffic) and traffic.

I don't drive to work so don't have the heavy traffic issue - I'm mostly on the open road so my fuel consumption is better.

AC on yes, traffic yes but I have tried driving very smoothly for a while and it never went below 14.6L/100km.

Its a massive difference to everyone on here. I think its a bit strange.

I'd be bringing it up with the dealer. Maybe you'll have to do a comparison consumption test with another vehicle. It would probably be a good thing if you had a record of actual consumption using mileage & fuel dockets.

I have 19" rims, AC on all the time, foot down (just cause i can) and still don't get below the 500km a tank mark unless i leave it in sport mode the whole time.
Might be worth getting it checked out abufijli, assuming you are doing your own calcs and not just going from the MFD figures.

The figures Im using are straight off the MFD. Are they not accurate and how do I do my own calc? What is an accurate way?

    Fill the tank

    Record start km's

Drive until next fillup and record km's driven and liters used

You can then calculate L/100 km

    Do this 3-4 times

    Average results

The MFD usage should be reset often, especially on a new vehicle - it is often inaccurate early on

Are you seeing instant fuel use or average fuel use in the MFD ?

    They are different

There is also daily and overall fuel use on MFD. Which are you looking at ?

Im looking at the overall fuel usage. My car has only done 3500km so far. Could it be still settling down?

Do you guys think having a Bluefin installed will increase fuel consumption?
