Running on the original Continental SportContact III and 11,000km done so far. I love the grip, fantastic even in the wet, they're quiet and so far seem to wear nicely. The only downside but a major one is price: $520 per corner for 17"s... I assume German performance cars come standard shod with Contis. How do you guys find them?

Not entirely sure mate? They were 19"... it could be a possibility but haven't seen it mentioned in any articles. They did have the same tread pattern and carcass design not sure on compound though.

I searched this thread, but couldn't find if anybody else has observed this.

On the R, with the sunroof slid open, at 40-50km/h, there is a period of wind buffeting/buffering noise, which then goes away at speeds above 50km/h. And yes, I know about how far the sunroof should be open for driving, vs 100% of the way open for when you're parked.

I'm just saying that with it 100% open, you get teh buffering noise all the time, but at 90% open or whatever it is for when you're driving, it just seems to hit a spot between 40-50km/h where it makes that noise. Probably to do with the way air moves over the car.

You can open the rear windows a bit and this buffeting won't happen.

Wish I could do this with mine. I just close it a little more then it goes away. Defeats the purpose, oh well

How do you open the back windows?

Corey: I read the manual but it doesn't tell me where the buttons are for the rear windows in a 3dr hehe

I get this as well in my R. Not sure why though, as my old car (MkV GTI) did not have this problem. It must have something to do with the airflow over the top of the car.

There are two remedies for this.

    1. You could close the sunroof just a little bit more (one or two notches of the sunroof dial), to prevent the air travelling over the car from coming in.

    2. Open the rear windows just 1 or 2 cm. This somehow alters the airflow in the car to prevent the buffeting. You can even drive with the sunroof 100% open if you have the rear windows slightly down and still not get any buffeting. I actually quite like this feature!

I just wind down the driver's window by 5mm to 10mm. Done.
