I hope it is worth it. Price was right and ECS say on their site it is 30% better than standard R intercooler. Actually enjoyed pulling the car apart. And no screws left over. Wiil see how the package goes at the dyno day. TBE on the way.

    Fab_R,

How do you find the sprint booster unit that you have fitted to your car?

Would be nice to get some feedback on one before purchasing.

The Sprintbooster Discussion thread is located here. You can refer to it to find the feedback and discussion about it. There is also discussion about it in this thread somewhere, but please do not discuss it here again.

Just a quick Q: Do the Golf R's consume as much oil as the MKV GTI engine or are the pistons fitted with harder rings?

As a proud owner of a Silver R, I bought it especially because it looked like a 118TSI. I like anonymous

Took it for a bit a blast in the wet Sydney weather over the last few days - the grip is phenomenal. Gets me smiling every time.

I don't know if they have harder rings, but this is consuming nowhere near as much oil as my MKV GTI did
But then I got to break in my R engine, whereas someone else broke in my MKV GTI engine....

with 12k up on mine the oil light came on.
    added 700ml and now fine.

I guess during run-in its going to use a little.

Guy_H mentioned at one stage that their R used far less oil than the MK6 GTI of theirs during track work...at WP i think.

Oh ok, i heard the Pirelli's used less oil as well, which, I heard was due to a different set of rings used as compared to the non Pirelli engine. And as you mentioned, the biggest factor I guess is how the break in procedure is carried out.

Looking at getting an Adjustable Camber kit for my Golf R

Has anyone got any good kit suggestions?

    Thanks

What are you looking to get out of the camber kit?
is this for looks or performance?

For performance, i would look at castor first (a.k.a. Anti-Lift Kit)
Increasing castor setting retains standard camber when you're pointing straight, and progressively gives you more camber as you use more lock.
This means you don't get tyre wear, or lose straight-line traction, but you do get camber when you need it most.

    Doesn't help for looks though...
