I'm in NSW but I have a Roam Express tag which works when I'm in VIC on the Citylink roads. I've got it mounted directly to the left of the mirror mount (so I can't see the tag from my seat) and it works fine....
mines mounted right in the middle in the black part of the front windshield...you cant see it from outside and on the inside its sorta hidden too...very discreet...and it works
I didn't mount it there as it says not to mount anything there in the owners manual.
That is "the window" for electrical signals, and it mentioned that mounting things there could cause loss of performance of any other wireless devices in the car. I personally painted my tag flat black so it matches the rest of the car, then mounted it using the same 3M Clear double-sided tape that I used to temporarily mount my plates. So it's not "hidden" from outside, but it's pretty discrete.
Call out to anyone with a Golf R or Golf GTI with a manual gearbox. Mine is on order but still several months away and im trying to get some accessories together for when it arrives.
Could you please take a photo of your driver side accelerator/brake/clutch pedal arrangement. I tried Google IMages but cant find what i need. Id like to see whether the "dead pedal" (plastic area to rest your left foot to the right of the clutch pedal) has a metal cover on it or if it is just black plastic.
If it is just plastic then i will purchase a OSIR pedal cover for it.
Thanks in advance.
Lucas_R- The left foot rest in Golf R and GTi is all black plastic!!
Do those metal ones just fit over the top of the plastic? No need to remove anything?
Also, how are they attached? I can see screws on the left, but not on the right foot one?
The left one is attached by screws. When I installed mine, i removed the footrest (and associated trim) as it's two allen-key screws (one facing right from the footrest) and one facing back (from the firewall). It's a lot easier than screwing the screws into the hard plastic from inside the car (especially the top two screws).
The right one is just stuck there with tape. The right space isn't a "real" footrest... (I also rest my foot there sometimes... but I don't particularly like the fake footrest panel being there)
Thanks for your help guys. Much appreciated.
