I dunno what all the Rising Blue haters are on about, haha. Although, until this weekend I'd not really had too much cause to think about the differences between the old and new blues.

Firstly, I've seen a couple of new blue Rs at dealers and on the streets now, and I think it's a really good colour.

Secondly, I parked next to a blue Mk5 R32 on the weekend and thought to myself (while thinking of the RB haters on VWW): is that it?! Is that this magnificent colour that is supposed to make the new blue look crap and unbearable. IMO the new blue has less red and is more pure.

I think the Rising Blue actually looks better and you're all wrong, so there, haha!

See with my 'old' eyes the two blue's look pretty similar in those pic's but in person they seem quite a bit different..

I agree, i have the biscay blue pearl and it looks amazing with a broad range of colour.
The Mk5 R32 had a great deapth (similar to mine)

The Mk6 R seems to be a blue/lavender mix and doesn't have that broad range of colour change in varying light.
In bright light it looks similar to the Hyundai Excel purple colour.

Well... the number of different shades that we've seen the Golf R's blue in, seems to suggest the opposite, that it DOES have that broad range of colour. The photos' I posted of the one from Eastern Creek certainly didn't look purplish.

R32 is definetly a darker shade of blue. Although I like the blue the R comes in, I would have liked it much better if it was darker. I'm talking like the BMW LeMans blue the 335 comes in...that shade...personal opinion.

I was partial to the Blue Graphite colour in the mk5's.
It was insane the amount of depth that colour had in it, the car was litterally 5 different shades in the same light depending on where you looked at it from.

I do like the LeMans blue from BMW though.
Some manufacutreres just have that 1 colour that is better than all others.

oh ya hands down. If the GTI (or the R) was offered in a similar colour, I would have easily waited 6+ months for it!

I think that the MK5 R32 DBP was darker and had a deeper shine, especially after a wax it was amazing.. lots of sparkle and deep shine.
