similar styled footrests are also available from VW GOLF MK5 MK6 MKV GTI FOOTREST PEDAL R32 TURBO on eBay (end time 14-Feb-11 12:25:40 GMT)
Not a deal breaker for me

Okay good to know that I'm not alone. I wonder how long did Corey's take to arrive?

Ahhh yes, good observation! I reckon the 'R' logo makes the footrest look special yet tacky at the same time hahaha!

I was honestly hoping for the R to come with an R plated footrest like what the R32 & R36 had. Just makes the car that little bit more special.

Hmm - they don't look as good as the OSIR ones, and I think maybe the right footrest is overkill.... but you can't deny the fact that they're a lot less cash!

i can see a lot of moisture and crud getting into those slots and thus behind the fitting.

    Moisture. WTF!

If dirt gets in there that's what vacuum cleaners are for!!

when it rains, do you have a special set of disposable booties you discard before getting into your car? if you don't, you'll get moisture, mud and leaves and crap in those slots and behind the fitting. you will have to remove it to clean behind it periodically, no vacuum will get stuff from behind it, and if you ever step in dog crap and don't notice till you get home...

my advice to you would be to fill those slots with something before installation. you could cut and glue rubber tubing or plastic or use the fitting to form some 2 part adhesive in the right colour. it's just a suggestion.

Just a quick question(s), but having just placed an order for a new RB R (coming from a blue R32), has anyone 1. either chromed or had the mirrors body coloured and 2. the brake calipers recoloured to blue. I know it might be strange, but the body coloured/chrome mirrors (on non black/white cars) would look better imho and the blue brake calipers make them stand out more (I ask as I wonder if this is easy to do and is mor eR like albeit old school, lol).

I like the idea of blue calipers and have actually been cheap enough to look for fake brembo caliper covers on eBay! However the need to use silicon glue to stick them on turned me off dramatically. Yes blue calipers would definitely adhere to the R culture. Not a fan of the boring black calipers.

Interior stitching should have been blue too IMHO! The interior feels far less special than a GTI's unless you option for the Recaros

On a side note, I took my R for a jetspray wash today and realised that there were lots of scratches on the B pillar of my doors (are they made from glass??). I used a microfibre cloth to wipe down my car. Just a gentle warning for all R owners to be mindful of this before wiping down.

I had some quite bad ones on my B pillars also. Was able to buff them out and have now got them covered with ventureshield to avoid it happening again..

Seems like the ventureshield is quite a good investment. They cost about $1k right?
