Was a bit dissapointed the R came out detuned.. So bang for buck what's not to like about 240kw and 435nm :p
haven't read much discussion about the de-tune for Oz in the forum, maybe reviewed, discussed before my time. I figured it was something to do with local road laws, possibly tax or duty restrictions. Talked to a VW mechanic last week and he shed light on why VW elected to reduce Kws for Oz. Most I guess would know but for those curious as I, hear it is. Factory concerned with engine and heat. They have had some reports of piston burn in higher ambient temp regions, hence made decision to reduce power.
so question is, without making other adjustments to engine is Stage 1 over time going to do damage which will not be covered by warranty?
