    I'm not sure 17" rims would clear the calipers on the front axles.

    Hmm figured as much. I haven't checked, but what size is the spare in the boot?

    The spare is a Continental T 125/70R18 99H inflated to 60psi

    if the R brakes are the same as the R32, then 17's like the denver will fit. hell, even my RS's cleared the brakes.

    I was originally going to get a MkVI GTI, test drove it, and it was good. But not amazing.

    Coming from an 8L S3 it just lacked some of the wow factor to me, the feel of the turbo, the acceleration and the grip you get powering out of a corner.

    I test drove an R and it really does tick all the boxes.

    Deposit is being piad tomorrow.

    17's would be ideal, have to wait for a mate to come back from holidays and see what he has laying about that fits.

    Curious as to why you didn't go with an 8P S3?

    Got to test my car 0-100 today with my brothers GPS timing gizmo (Performane Box - PerformanceBox - Datalogger and Performance Meter)

    It was 25 degerees and I had a full tank. All runs were done in Manual Mode, using Launch Control, letting it change gears when it got to the redline. I did 2 runs in each direction, results were-
    6.05, 6.38, 6.41, 6.83



    As a comparison here are my 2 best runs with my brothers 2 best in a 2003 Lotus Elise-




    All in all not as good as I had hoped..... Although I did forget to turn the air-con off if that would affect it.

    And man photobucket has made the graphs blurry.
