Good to see a whole stack of hot hatches going back to back and all being driven by an experienced driver. Its surprising how even most of them are (most doing the course in 1 minute and 10 seconds).

That was a flashback of epic proportions. I went to Harewood, near Harrogate in Yorkshire, in about 1985, with some mates from school. Recognised it straight away.

Funny thing is, two FWD cars got highest g readings. Guess who?

Both the GTI and R got 1.13g max lateral acceleration, while the 200 and 250 frog eaters got 1.25g and 1.37g. Interestingly enough, the Roc R got 1.14g and the Polo GTI 1.16g!

Despite finding it a touch hard to be wowed by the speed when it's displayed in MPH, his Golf-driving abilities are excellent

A stock Golf R weighs about 110KGs more than a fully optioned Renault. Add options and it might make it up to 200KGs heavier.

Over 1G is a solid feat for such a porker!!
