you are also losing the Iconic figure that the R32 is, and will fall into the same category WRX, EVO etc... however if i didn't already have an R32 it would be a good proposition and a decent upgrade from a GTI..

Times change and products evolve to suit consumer demand.

Whilst the NA 3.2 is an iconic engine for VW fans, the worse fuel economy and emissions standards would be too hard to justify.

It is a shame but at least those with an NA 3.2 will apreciate in value.

I'm a bit divided on it as well, and know the economy and emissions aren't the best but there's something about it that puts a grin on your face.

However not many cars would appreciate in value, but shouldn't lose as much as some other cars.

It is possible to order a new car and specify a delivery date well in the future (I've done it), but you should be absolutely certain you will still want it when it finally arrives. If your circumstances change and you can no longer afford it the dealer will still expect you to take delivery (and has a legal contract that says you will do just that).
2017 MY18 Golf R 7.5 Wolfsburg wagon (boring white) delivered 21 Sep 2017, 2008 Octavia vRS wagon 2.0 TFSI 6M (bright yellow), 2006 T5 Transporter van 2.5 TDI 6M (gone but not forgotten).

There will usually be a long wait of 3-6 months anyway, just put a clause in saying you want it within a reasonable time frame (ie 3months from when they are out and taking orders) but not that hard to get out of, the demand will be up there and someone else will snap it up but you could lose your deposit.

I went to my local VW dealer the week after it was announced at frankfurt and put down a deposit ($1000) to join the waiting list...they treated it like i'd purchased the car filling out all the paperwork etc but in the special clauses box i got them to write "subject to pricing and test drive" so at any stage if my circumstances change i can refund my deposit and cancel my place in the queue...im pretty sure if anyone went in and did that the dealer would be happy to have it subject to pricing as they couldnt tell you how much it's going to cost...its hardly a fair contract if they can slap any price on it after you've signed and you're legally obligated to pay.

though they havent actually placed an order for the car yet im simply in the VW australia waiting list so they'll call when they have the options and pricing so i can do a full order...
