I'm with Coreying here, the comparisons being made are pointless. Gotta compare apples with apples. If you're going to entertain the thought of a used S3 or 135i, then you need to compare it to a used fully loaded R32 which will be cheaper than a new R by a large margin.

Discounts on the R will be there from day 1, even on pre-orders. It could be seen as a captive market but if you stick to your guns, you always win. I'd hope there is nobody silly enough to pay over $70k for R's even if they were fully loaded. Personally, I'll be going for sub $60k, it isn't worth more regardless of how good I know it will be!

Pretty sure I've tried AVC before when looking for GTI prices and they weren't any better than the deals people are getting on this forum. I'd have to dig up the quote later.
