pretty much confirms what I was saying previously. So that is how they are going to be reducing the cost of it.

If the R32 3 Door Manual was $54,990
then I would expect the Golf R, without leather to be around the $51K mark.

However the lack of a 3 door Golf R really puts me off.

Now im hoping! that they have done this for a reason, and are looking at importing the Scirocco R to replace the 3 Door Golf R. In which case I wont be so sour, and will definitly look at getting this.

This would make the choice for an S3 or 135i that much easier, as well as VW being coy about pricing and standard equipment.

The U.K. dealers have snapped up their total 2010 allocation of 350 Golf R's and its only Feb 2010. U.K. dealers are asking for 50 more R's in right hand drive.

Now, if Aus has an allocated number of 3 and 5 door R's, it may pay to re-allocate the 3 doors destined for the Aus market to the U.K market.

Esp in light of Volkswagen U.K. selling the Golf R at a 2K GBP premium to the Audi S3, and that's with std cloth seats.

Here in Aus, they have to ensure the R comes in at under the LCT threshold (57K), with the Aus market demanding leather as std for a top of the range anything.

Most obvious place in saving costs on the Golf R is the lower import duty of 5% and deletion of leather on the std specced vehicle.

Have you guys read the latest Golf R review in the Aussie Top Gear Magazine?

Hell it isnt just those. Even a 123d or a 125i would go down well. Mini JCW. Why not put the Golf GTI 3 door in there with basically every option added?

The only other car that could eclipse the 3 door Golf R, is the Scirocco R...

Common VW Australia, you know that every reviewer and person who knows about the Scirocco, wants it to come here.

You have made the perfect chance to import at least 1 varient on it. So do it!!!

NO 3 DOOR GOLF R = ME WALKING to another car brand (and im sure many others)

OR

You can keep us, if you import the Scirocco R.

You have to virtually order it special anyway due to the expected waiting list...so VW Australia...what the hell difference does it make whether you order a three door or a five door?
