So is the Stage 1 S3 putting out the same as the Stage 1 TT-S Guy? Even though the TT-S 'starts' at 199KW and the S3 188KW?

Is anyone going to actually notice 10kw?![]()

Interesting to note the weight in the first drive article here
http://theage.drive.com.au/motor-new...0201-n7a5.html
If it's correct its 1521 kg for a manual compared to 1360kg for a GTI.
Would suggest most of the weight savings in the MkVI comes from using the new EA888 motor as would 4wd = 160 more kg's?
Guys in the UK are getting around 260hp (193kw) with a Revo chip on the EA888 so it seems to have some pretty good potential with just a stage I upgrade.
Just the 4wd part that is making it so hard to decide!
The article is simply stating what we've already known though.... midyear release and around the same price as the R32. We've already known this because VWA have already said it! But it's nice that there is now an article bringing it together.
@azzab80. Welcome to the forums. In some countries the difference between the MK6 GTI and MK6 R is as low as 125KG. Which options are included on both cars in the stated weights is an influence there. The wait saving between the R32 and the R would almost definitely be entirely related to changing from the old 3.2L V6 to the 2L Turbo.
As for the stage I upgrade, the Golf R is 188/199kw & 350NM (depending on market) by default, so the Stage I upgrade from APR will take that up to 240KW & 435NM.
Even so, a 188/199kw Golf R will beat a 193kw GTI in acceleration for sure. Around the corners, I would say that the improved stock suspension, lower ride height, and improved anti-roll bars will probably make the R pretty close to the GTI... so go the R![]()
Thanks for the welcome coreying.
I guess I'm trying to convince myself that I'll be happy with the GTI because I don't want to wait the extra 3-4 months!
If you go to a site like Lima's Ausmotive who post good quality photos, you can see that the tyres are 235/35 R19 on the initial press photos.
The 18's are the same design and colour though. ALL the black wheels are 19" only. So yeah, if you want the 19's in silver or black it will probably cost around $1200 to $1700 (based on the GTI's upgrade in Australia and compared to the difference between the GTI and R options overseas).
