So why cripple what the Aussie market can buy?

I know it's only been a few days, but common VWA! I want pricing! And I want a 3 door! Not hard! If your already imprting them and telling dealers what the options list prices are, then you must know what price it's going to sell
for, so just come out with it already!
Yeah - I emailed Karl after the Wednesday article. I always alerted him to the fact that the black photos from Port Kembla were 'floating around', but they weren't yet posted in an article.

Not surprisingly, I haven't had any response. So if others want to ask the same thing, it won't hurt.

My email has just been sent. I also rubbed in the fact that I am a VW customer that has already ordered a 3 door GTI.

I'll post back if I get a response.

For all the people reading this thread, and are genuinly intrested in this car, please email Karl and inform him of your intrest.

I forgot to ask, but maybe someone can.

With the Golf R and Golf GTD apparently being confirmed
to come in 5 door varients only. And with rumors flying around that the GTI will see the same fate. That leaves a big hole of prospective Golf owners that were after a 3 door car, that can no longer get this. So will they finally be offering the Scirocco to fill this gap?

After all VWA said they were trying to build a case to go back to VW Germany and present. What better way do they have then to say "We no longer sell 3 door Golfs in Australia, we are after a fresh, alternative model to fill this gap in our line up".

I wouldn't be pushing things too far. Knowing how PR works they may not even be aware of what cars are here. For that matter it can also be the reverse, their PR people might know but they aren't allowed to inform their own dealers just yet. It certainly won't make something become magically available these things have been determined many many months in advance.

I don't particular care if they do or not as I'm not interested in it.

But I doubt they are. As if they were intending to do that, they wouldn't have let another company start importing the Scirocco as per the articles on Ausmotive.

I thought that the company importing them was only alloud to import 'used' Scirocco's? So does that imply that something has been submitted via VWA so they can't sell 'new' Scirocco's?

How does it work with the Camaro? Holden have confirmed that it will be coming to Australia, yet people are already importing it?

How does it work with the Nissan GTR? Nissan sell it at selected dealers, yet people can import it?

They would most likely be 19" as the cars have the privacy glass as well, and looks to have something on wheel arches. I'd prob like the 18" to avoid the wheel arch flares like they do if you order the factory 18" karthoum wheels.

I'm not sure if you could tell from those photos whether they're 18 or 19".
The clearance from the guards would also be useless in these photos, as they'd still have their spring rubbers in place which are removed during the dealer delivery checks.

Also, privacy glass is standard on Golf R for Australia.
In addition, there is no note in the specs about requirements for wheel arch 'flares' (or plastic strips as they really are on the Golf) with the addition of 19". They are still only the same width wheel as the 18's, only the tyre is 10mm wider.

Holden have not comfirmed as far as I'm aware.
I'm not an expert on this process though. So I would refer you to the Ausmotive.com article on the importation of the Scirocco and the links it contains in relation to Federal Governments SEVS program.

Perhaps it was just the wheel arch lining but if you look closely it seems to be sticking out a bit???

I heard Privacy glass was only with the 19" wheel option.. sounds odd anyway so you may be right.

I think you will find that the Camaro is not going to be imported by Holden. GM US decided, once again, not to built RHD versions of the car.
