If the dealers had it we'd know via the car news sites. No word as yet.

You are probably right.
Hmmm.. I think I am going to switch from the Black to Blue on the R (if I end up going that way...)
Black hides too many of the subtle lines which make the R stand out.
I've never owned a car with a shade (for Corey) other than Black, White or Grey.

I understand VW Aus are very strict on pricing confidentiality now.![]()
Another new article. http://www.carsales.com.au/reviews/2...n-golf-r-18184
We already knew this but again..
Seriously, if we really have to wait for pricing till June/July... I might just not bother. Dammit! As far as pricing is concerned, VW Australia has only said the car will sit between the GTI and outgoing R32. That implies a slight price reduction, but don't expect it to be too far from the R32 starting price of $55,490 in order to leave enough space between the GTI and the R.
Full pricing and Australian specifications will be released when the car is launched here in June or July.
I dont know if I can manage going from ordering a GTI in December to waiting for July for an R when the GTI will most likely arrive end of April.

Might be hard elisiX, as if the prices are not released until June/July, you'd have to jump straight into one that's already on the ground in Australia or be waiting another 4 or 5 months for it from Germany. That's all depending on how big the waiting list for the R is... tough choice.
Oh I totally expected to take one that arrives first (pre ordered from dealer).
The issue is this. I need to know the pricing for the R before my GTI arrives.
I need to know that its within my budget (with a few options I want) so that I can release the GTI for someone else.
I wont be letting the GTI go if I dont know R pricing when it arrives.

Mate, I think you need to step back and have a cold one! You're going to kill yourself otherwise
We didn't get the MK6 GTI pricing until October 15, when it came from Maverick and his my-gti.com site. The GTI was then actually released on the 31st of October - so only two weeks before availability! It probably won't be any different with the R.
But I wouldn't stress. Use my spreadsheet and that'll give you pricing (based on R32 prices and the GTI options... I've updated it recently with corrections and stuff based on latest info). As we now know for 100% certainty that it won't be any more than an R32, if you budget based on what the spreadsheet says, then all that will happen is you'll have money left over once you've been able to negotiate a discount.
Corey's advice is sound, go with the R32 spreadsheet prices and if you are happy with that pricing, you might even end up with a few $$$ left at the end of the deal.
It really comes down to whether you can comfortably afford the R and are happy paying the price for it or if the GTI is "enough." If you are this torn over it, then it's pretty obvious you want the R, and in the long run over 3 years or however long you have the car, you don't want to look back on it and regret the decision. I know the feeling where you just can't make a decision, but I generally go with what I really want if the means are available to do so. You only live once.
In saying that either car is bloody nice, and it's a pretty good problem to have to be tossing up between a 50k+ loaded GTI or a $60k R.![]()
