Yeah - we've had this 3dr vs 5dr discussion a million times. I'd be personally just as upset if the Golf only came in 3dr because I know that there are a lot of 5dr people.

I personally find it offensive when people say "we should just have the Scirocco and the 5dr Golf". Well that may be fine for you, but it's not fine for me, so either way VW would lose a sale.
Like elisiX said, I personally find the Scirocco looks a bit awkward. Beyond that, it just doesn't have the space in the rear or the boot that I require (based on VW's specs and dimension diagrams). So even if they did bring the Scirocco, if they don't bring a 3dr R, then they'll lose my sale, and the sale of several other people.

Driving around my area, there are more 3dr R32's than 5dr... You'd think if they were to consolidate that they'd first remove the 3dr from the GTI which really is far less optioned. The R32, and presumably the R, since it is really at the high end of the hatch market and is less likely to be doubling as a 'family car', would seem to me is where the most of 3 door sales would come from.

So you think the GTI's new rear design (a regressive design) is preferable to this Fair enough, guess design is a subjective thing.

Just to clarify, I dont think they 'should' only have a Sirocco and 5DR R... but this is what they may very well do if no 3DR R comes.

I'd personally like to see all 3 to cater to everyone.

    EDIT

HOLY SH*T.. 6.61 posts a day? I guess it takes into consideration the time i've been on here. I dont think i've posted more than 2-3 times in the past 2 weeks.

It would be atough choice between a 5 door scirocco R or the 3door golf R

The golf has AWD but the Scirocco did place well in the Nurbrugring 24Hr so maybe awd isn't that important considering the wider track of the scirocco and the fact it won't be making obsene power levels.

I would probably go the scirocco.

Black does look pretty good, wouldn't stand out as much as blue.

Yep, I sure do. I think that the back of the Scirocco looks a bit awkward

There is no difference between the stance of the 5 door and 3 door models - so I guess this is one of those visual illusion things

I agree, but the mk5 and mk6 look a bit soft compares to the mk4 r32 which was only 3dr and looked a lot more unique.
