Since it's publically released and on sale on Saturday, they'll HAVE to release the pricing this week!
I've seen the options price list and leather is listed as an option
You know you are getting old when you cancel your order for a 3.6 CC and buy an Icelandic Gray TDI CC instead.

So going off the NZ pricing the GTI in AUD's is $46K and the R a touch under $59K - ouch thats more than 12K difference AUD ~27%.
It might not apply here of course but I just thought I'd throw in a touch of wild speculation

Which should hopefully mean that the Golf R comes in cheaper then the R32!!! Not to mention we are getting less power on our model too.

If they can sell Golf GTI's for 38,990 drive away at the moment, im hoping for a high 40K price for the 3 Door Golf R. Say $49,990 for the 3 Door R. Then go ahead and add on dealer delivery, stamp duty, rego and all your options.

DSG will be a no brainer for alot of people I suppose.

Honestly If its $55000>X I would swap my order for it. Base R for pretty optioned GTi.. yeah why not. But then I think, I am buying a golf cause I like the drive and build/style of the golf. If I want to get down and dirty I would buy an STi or EVO and dominate. SO for the 4WD would no doubt be awesome to have, but its not the same deal for me as it was when I was 10 years younger. But yeah my golf gti with all my options works out to about $57500 r.r.p. I got a great deal in the end. So If I could get a Golf R for another $5K.. why not.. otherwise for $12K.. out of my comfort/price range Need to get a house soon-ish! before the GF strings me up.

Looking at that price guide in AUS.. If the rrp of NZ car is $57500. And the rrp of the aus car is $42990. Then $42990/$57500 = around 74.67%.

So then multiplying that percentage by the golf R price, you get around $54000. As long as the difference its proportional.

But this is all hear say as a Nintendo Wii in Brazill costs around $1200USD when it was released there due to a different econ environment.

lol dave-, yeah, with 3 days until the launch, I was expecting to see a base price.... which by the way for all you guys posting now, is the ONLY infomation we're missing... we already know the full options list and their prices, we already know that NZ prices have nothing to do with Australian prices - and we've already narrowed it down to being somewhere between $10k more than a GTI, and less than the price of an R32 - hopefully closer to the $10k more than a GTI side due to the fact that leather is not standard and therefore the $3300 option will end up costing you $4500 once the 33% LCT and 5% stamp duty is added.

Seeing as we are only days out ..... can anybody post up the exact prices of the R32 as they were for us .... base + options please and if anybody had a driveaway price in Qld that as well please.

Going to be using that as a comparison to the Rs pricing on Saturday (fingers crossed its this Saturday ... LOL)

EDIT: It might be here somewhere but I don't feel like trawling through 132!!! pages of speculation.....

    $55,490 R32 3 door Manual
    $57,990 R32 3 door DSG
    $56,990 R32 5 door Manual
    $59,490 R32 5 door DSG

    $2,000 Electric Glass Sunroof
    $2,500 Sat Nav RNS510
    $800 CD Changer for RNS510
    $4,000 Recaro Front Seats
$900 Electrically Adjustable Drivers Seat (5 door only, not with Recaro)
    $800 Park Distance Control, Rear

As for drive away prices... they're different for every car with every option in practically every location, so not much point posting that - suffice to say that the factors influencing drive away pricing have not changed, except that LCT is now 33% instead of 25%. Just compare the base prices and option prices from the R32 to the new one...

(Options are the same cost, or cheaper, or even included for free on the R - the exception being leather seats is now an option instead of standard).

wonder if there will be any good deals on the R32's once the R20 comes out. It's been out for a few, but the R32 is still a hell of a car. Not many cars beat the exhaust note on it for sure!
