Golf Mk6 - Prices and Dealer Negotiations

    hi all,

i've collated all of the data in the main negotiations thread along with some helpful pm's to make a spreadsheet i'm sharing with everyone.

basically, if you're thinking of buying a mk6, you use the spreadsheet to spec the car up how you like it, tell it whether you have access to a corporate discount, and also the low/high value of your trade-in (i recommend drive's car valuation page) and it will give you a range within which we'd consider a good deal.

in a nutshell, expect a 9-12% discount without corporate discount, 10-13% with. little things like floor mats and premium plates you should be able to negotiate in for free, and other stuff like window tint you're better off getting elsewhere anyway.

i hope this proves to be of use!

The original spreadsheet links have expired. Another member has posted the spreadsheet again on Google Docs:

    Thank you to widjaya

    Please note:
The "RRP" in the spreadsheet is the cost of the car, plus options, plus MADE UP onroad costs. Please note that it is in NO WAY ACCURATE, not even when it was produced. It may have been accurate for one of the cars on there (presumably the creater's purchaseed it). The calculation for stamp duty is based on the NSW formula only and is completely inaccurate for any other state. The dealer delivery is "conservatively high" for non-GTI/R models. The CTP is wrong, as is the registration (even for NSW). There is no accounting for LCT (not that it should be an issue with non-GTI/R models). There is no accounting for the cost of number plates!

So use as a rough guide only

You could always download the FREE compatibility pack that Microsoft brought out.

Would also be nice to add the AVG discount (instead of just best and worst)

    Thanks!

It really depends on how you want to use it, which determines if an average is useful or not. My idea was that you start bargaining with the "Best" figure in mind, and if after negotiating you're still ahead of the "Worst" figure then you've still done pretty well.

That said I can still see how an average would be useful, so both sheets have been updated

More than Helpful for potential buyers...
Even though I did well with negotiating my purchase it would have made the process soo much quicker if I had this info available at the time...
