They are both great cars.. MKV is what got me into VW. I never even blinked at VW before that. So I love the MK V. Sound great too!

In saying that though, I would get a brand new MY11 model for the extra $10K and enjoy the whole process a bit more.

    Golf pricing SA

    Hi,
In SA and looking at getting a new Golf.
We have had 2 prices and both were the same.

    Golf 118TSI DSG
    List Price $31,990
    Dealer Delivery $1,995
    Sports Pack $2,000
    MDI $270
    Metallic Paint $500
    Tow Bar $1,450
    Carpet Mats INC
    SUBTOTAL $38,205
    Stamp Duty $1,312
    Registration $703
    Less Discount -$1,720
    Total Payable $38,500

Should we expect better pricing than this? The local dealers appear unwilling to move.
    Cheers guys.

If you went to Hawthorn and Medindie, be aware that they're the same dealership - Solitaire - and have a monopoly in the Adelaide VW market. You probably won't get much movement on the price without some serious haggling.

Try getting a quote from Duttons at Murray Bridge - they get a good rap from those who've dealt with them. I bought from Solitaire, but had good quotes from a couple of Sydney dealerships and went in prearmed. It always helps to be prepared to buy from interstate and drive the car back if you don't get any traction from Solitaire - which some members have done.

I'd try and knock the $32K down to $30K. $32K with no options is a bit high for one that is DSG and too expensive if it is manual. You can extend the warranty for another 3years or 60,000kms for $1400.

The MkV brought the magic back to the GTI. It revived the legend. For the first time over two generations, the GTI actually lived up to it's name. The MkVI is more refinded and less edgy/fun. It depends on what you want out of a car.

    Thanks for the advice AdamD.
The 2 prices we had were from Solitaire & Duttons. We'll have at look at the prices interstate and compare. We'd be happy to drive the car back and combine the trip calling on some of our interstate and country customers.

    Hi All,

I am considering purchasing the following:-

    2010 MY11 118 TSI DSG Wagon
    MDI
    Bluetooth
    Genuine Floor Mats

Price offered is $34500. That seems pretty good(?) but would appreciate feedback from others on it.

    Thanks!

hey all, i was at Rex Gorrell VW in Geelong yesterday test driving the new GTI (only dealer i found that had a manual GTI).

anyway if anyone is after a GTI or R without the wait - VW Rex Gorrell have 6 GTI's and 4 R's at the showroom!

couldnt believe my eyes when i saw 3 of the R's parked next to eachother in the showroom with the wait times on them - the sales rep there was sayin he reckons they are the only dealer with so many on hand.
