There is a thread specifically for the GTI pricing here:
    http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/f112...ces-36028.html

There is also a thread on how you can acquire and install the LED tailights yourself here:

    Cheers and goodluck.

Has anyone been able to secure a better price then this at any QLD dealer?
You might want to give Bryan Byrt VW a call, they were trying to do some very good deals having just opened up. It's where I got my 90TSI from.

Are you trying to trade another vehicle? It changes the equation a fair bit, that's all.

Yeah - that's a great price. The car is $31,990 + on roads. In addition to that you're getting the metallic paint option. Lets just assume that the floor mats are free (nothing is free, but I don't know the price of them as they're an accessory) - the "Drive away RRP price" for someone in Melbourne with standard number plates is ~$36,004. So you're effectively getting a ~11.5% discount which is really great for a car which is already in stock and doesn't have many options.

Looking at some options, a GTI Adidas, RRP on road about 51K, Best from Barloworld less $1500 (no trade) General concensis seems to be that i should get atleast 10-13% off. If i could get one for 45-46k or a standard GTI no options for 42K i would be keen. Otherwise how does a 2008 MK V GTI no options with 29,000K's for $32000 sound, Immaculate, as new 6 months warranty left. Was MK V a good model

Check carsales for a MK V GTI, you could probably do a little better, depends on options, DSG or manual, 3 or 5 door. I have a 2008 MY09 GTI and love it. No major problems so, for me, it is a good model.

I too am interested in the Mk V GTI. I'm a little disappointed with my WRX and the Mk Vs have a great reputation. I would go for a well-spec'd model but I am interested to know if the DSG in the Mk VI is better or WAY better.

The DSG in the MKV GTI and MK6 GTI is technically the same. Sure, have been minor revisions to both hardware and software over the years (even within the MK6 GTIs), but they are largely the same.
