The way to go, if the price is right, why argue (haggle) about it and ruin the car buying experience. I didn't haggle as well when buying Touareg and Tiguan and it worked for me, got discount and what I wanted delivered on time.

I wil buy again from Solitaire Automotive.

This is the deal I got straight up, slapped down a deposit immediately without haggling...

    Golf R - 3 Door
    DSG
    Leather (Vienna)
    Sunroof
    MDI
    Mats & Weathershield
Paint, Leather, Vinyl, Fabric & Carpet Protection
    Tint

    $57K driveaway.

Reason I didn't haggle was that it worked out to be roughly $9K discount and I had already formed the figure in my head and achieved it.
Excluding the Mats (since they're included) and weathershield (nfi on the price, dealer accessory), nor the dealer protection pack (cause it's another dealer money making thing of little value), and the tint (again, it's included, unless you mean just the front passenger and driver window, which would cost maybe $100 from a local tint dude like Rob from Hunters Hills Tint), the "RRP Driveaway" for that car is only $63,289.20 including Euro plates. So whilst you still got a good discount, it's only $6,289.20 - not anywhere near $9,000. In fact, I find it hard to find anyway that it could be $9k, even with the most overpriced of dealer protection kit and dealer tint.

Either way though, 9.94% on an R is a great discount, plus whatever value those dealer accessories were added to that.

    Coreying...

You are one well informed dubber. My hat off to you. Wish I'd come across the forum before I went in with the purchase.

This is how I came to my $9K discount.

I originally got quoted $64,400 for the car driveaway. Got dropped to $56,000K driveway.
The protection pack was added later for $1,800.00. Got dropped to $1,200. This includes some sort of scuff, dent, and scrape repair insurance thing for two years.
They threw in tint and weathershields.

    That's how I got to the $9K.
In hindsight, I may have been overquoted the fist time around cause I walked in with shorts, thongs and I didn't bother taking a shower that day LOL!

They may not have taken me seriously until I came back a month later groomed up a bit.

The second time round I took a shower a wore some jeans hahaha!

    lol - cools!
And holy crap at the $1800 for the dealer protection kit. Even at $1200 that's a lot! For that amount you could buy the cans of scotchguard yourself ($10 each from Bunnings, you'd need two max for a leather car), the Meguiars or Zaino leather conditioning and cleaning kit (say $60 to 80 inc microfibre towels), and then get a company like OziCozi to put the 3M Paint Protection Film/Ventureshield Stoneguard kit plus G|Techniq sealant on the non-forward-facing surfaces not covered by the film. You'd then still have change to cover getting a wheel or two repaired after being scuffed...

    Hahaha!!!!

If you put it that way...

But they sold me when they said it was a once off application, with a lifetime guarantee... and the clincher was that I didn't need to think about waxing the car ever, and that I didn't have to think about the leather ever... leaning on the lazy side of life... the product pulled at my heart strings.

We'll see if that's true in due time... if it's really a once off or not.

The which donated it's hide to your interior already did most of the work to give it lifetime protection.

    You got Ming Mole'd.

Doesn't matter as you got a great car at a discount, enjoy it when you get it.

Not sure if this is the right thread for this, but I signed up for the R on Friday. A bit of haggling, but Trent (and Phil) @ Gerald Slaven Belconnen were great to deal with.

    Golf R - 5 Door (Rising Blue)
    DSG
    ACC
    RVC
    Bluetooth

    $54,375 driveaway, with corporate discount.

According to the spreadsheet, works out at 10.34% discount which I'm happy with. Actually it's only 10K more than I paid for my 05 GTI so seems an outright bargain!!

Trying not to think about the long wait till February....

    Cheers,
    Dave
