That's a pretty decent price imo for your age.

I had an S15 200sx (modified) when I was 20 and paid $3800 the first year, and $2900 the second year. I knew it was expensive but it was all I wanted at that stage and I decided I'd cop the insurance premiums in order to have that car for a couple of years before buying a property.

Unfortunately that's just the way it goes when your young. If you can't afford the insurance, you can't afford the car.

i am like 24 live in a pretty crappy suburb with thefts rampant and stuff had license for 6 years on a 118tsi it only costs me $876 for comprehensive with 2k excess and market value

I suppose I worded it wrong, the $2100ish doesnt bother me. Its the fact I have limited choice. So I dont know if I could get a better deal due to only RACV allowing me to insure with them. Which isnt a bad thing, ive head good things about RACV.

But yeah the lack of choice is a bummer.

Regardless of if I cant drive it until October legally. The car needs to be insured before it leaves the showroom. There is no way im getting the car driven from the show room to my home with the chance of having an accident.

The Money as I said is not an issue to me. Its the lack of choice that kind of surprised me.

I've had to deal with NRMA (RACV) a few times in recent years.

My car was hit in the back a year or so ago and they were straight onto getting it repaired and chasing the other party.

Just recently I had a break in at my home and had a considering number of valuable items taken. Again, they came through perfectly.

IMO, NRMA is a little more expensive in Sydney but from my experience, you pay the extra bit for a hassle free relationship.

Thanks for that Maverick, its nice to know the insurance is quite good considering. As I said, due to the lack of being able to compare with other decent insurance companies, I have no idea if its good or bad.

In a year you will find you can have more choice to move around and once you get over 25 providing you have a clean insurance record the premiums will drop substantially. Most of the members on the forums with GTI's seem to pay $800-1000 for a GTI with decent cover and that's for over 30 so $2000 is good value considering the extra risk you pose statistically.
