Paying too little means/is also demanding cheaper (fixed) prices which leads to cutting corners on the maintenance, as you some poited out, so why do you always have to quote me when you know very well what I mean.
Said think is, that the car manufacturers buckle under the pressure from the competitors and effectively shorten the life of the car (their product) or causing it to cost more later in the unnecessary reapirs, only to sell more and make even a bigger profit in the future, that's where their fixed price servicing going.
I see it unfolding like that; there will be less and less material needed as thei will extend the replacement intervalls to save their cost while people will pay more for the fixed price servicing from meodel to model (at the best) as the years go.

You make some valid points, but it doesn't necessarily follow that paying less for maintenance leads to poor maintenance.
There is some truth to what you are saying, but again, it doesn't necessarily follow that lower maintenance costs, or less frequent maintenance, will always compromise the practical service life of a vehicle.
My general point is that one doesn't necessarily need to spend a lot of money in order to properly maintain a car, without undue impact on its service life.
However, it does often require some research on part of the owner - but has been made easier with the internet and online forums, such as this one.

Though it wasn't my intention to put words into your mouth, I think my statements hold true by themselves and I stand by them.
I think it's too expensive most of the time, or, there is better value to be had elsewhere. Like independent workshops for instance (and more often than not, better standards of service too).

I just installed 4 new coil packs ($89), 4 new NGK spark plugs - PFR7S8EG($52) & a new fuel filter ($3. I had the oil/filter change done about 1000km's ago with Penrite Enviro+ ($68 5L + $30 for filter + $50 mechanic) that's like $330
Also cleaned my K&N Air Filter at the same time but what else would I need to do for my car, its just over 45,000kms?
Would it need a carbon clean (inlet valves)?
For a $130 dollars at Toyota for fixed price servicing all you would get is an oil change stamp the book and Nothing else. Oh yeah and some first year apprentice working on it. Same thing will happen at Volkswagen. Everyone thinks there will be savings but the only thing your paying for is like the Toyota service like I stated. all other stuff like brake fluid will still be required but at an extra cost so in the end all pricing remains the same. And if you choose not to have these items done i guess your resale value will diminish as no one would buy a car that's never had proper servicing.
Actually you would be wrong. The Toyota fixed price services are the normal services performed by the normal mechanics using b the normal schedule. The reason it is cheap is Toyota Australia reimburses each dealership service Centre the gap. Eg. A 2011 Hilux is $180. But the normal cost is about $400. Toyota aust front up the remainder
