Golf GTI seat belt choking/too tight/ tension adjustment possible?

Hi all,

I did a search, couldnt find anything so sorry if this has been covered before.

My driver seat belt feels as per title, Im constantly pulling it off my body and it goes straight back into choke mode if I let go. Its that bad Im driving with one thumb in the belt! Does anyone else experience this?

Ive called my local service centre, they said they can have a look at it but if its something Im imagining/ if there is no way it can safely be adjusted I dont want to waste my time. I dont get it serviced there either so its not an option to wait until I drop it off next.

The harness is height adjustable.... as well the seat height can be adjusted.... surely you can find a position where is is comfortable.
