    Golf GTI Oil leak

Past few days I notice there been a huge oil mess on my garage floor where I park my GTI. Manage to have a close look and it seems the oil is originated around the bottom part near where the belt is (on driver side).

The oil is definitely engine oil. Has sent it to dealer yesterday and as per them the oil leak is originated from camshaft. Currently awaiting call to collect it today.

Also at the time when I send the car in, I accidentally saw a red stamp "RECALL" on the paperwork. Mine is a MK6 MY11 compliance.

some GTI's do leak from the sensor at the top of the engine, near the dipstick. Have a look up there around the metal thing with a connector plug into it. Driver's side of the engine. tthe leak then spreads and trickles down to the subframe, whence it leaks onto the tray, and then onto your floor. it's not the seal that's faulty, usually its the fit between the CAS and the engine, and it needs to be replaced. All under warranty, and Insist they clean all traces of oil. watch out though, as per service they require NEW bolts to be used when replacing these things, and they are not the easiest things to get hold of...
More opportunites have been lost from indecision, rather than wrong decision....

Just collected my car from dealer, it seem like what you are describing are spot on. They replaced the camshaft position seal and gaskets. According to the technician this is a first job where he need to replaced these seal under warranty.
