I suppose it doesn't matter for new cars but how can the price be so different when the spec is the same?

How do you know the specs are the same? Are you reading something else than we are?

So the first one clearly says that it is priced in the current sale conditions, with approximately $4000 already off the RRP from VAG/dealer paying your onroads. Other than that, it has no option other than the Detroits (MDI and BT being standard now)

The second one makes no such mention of the sale, nor of ANY specification of the car. For all we know, you can take off the $4000 and it could have leather and sunroof and actually be a better deal than the first one.

But why ask us? We're not the ones selling the cars. If you actually care enough, enquire on both ads and find out the exact situation and let us know

So there is no reason for the price difference. I doubt that the second car has any better options otherwise the seller / dealer would be missing a large percentage of the market.

lol... with 1/4 million combinations of specification in the GTI's, you doubt that the 2nd car has any different options?
Considering they don't mention the spec of the car AT ALL?

    Sure...

The fact that it says optioned with BT/MDI suggests it is MY11 or worse an MY10 model that hasn't been sold.

Aging inventory does a lot of damage to the books, so it makes sense you'd want to offload it asap.

Pretty sure the 53k car has a few options in it. The first one is basically a stocker bar the detroits.

The 53k has leather and the 18s period.

Well there you go. There is almost all of the price difference like we said.
$4000 due to the onroad's sale, and $3300 due to the leather...

The dealer selling the 53k then told me that it had been incorrectly priced and that it should be 48k.
