Paying an agreed value right now is only really useful if you hate the car and if for some reason it is written off you want the cash and not a replacement car or you bought a pirelli/35/Adidas and you really really loved it to death and cannot see yourself driving a GTI or R.
Read your policy first. All insurers with new for old have conditions. The car of the same spec must be availble in the country for delivery. So... considering the tens of thousands of options combinations, and the low stock levels that VAG have, the chances of that happening are not great. Which is why so many of us wait 4 to 9 months for a car. If you are relying on "New for old", you could find yourself in a very unfortunate situation when they then pay you out at "market value" and end up many thousands short to being able to replace your car, because you hadn't opted for agreed value.

This thread isn't really the place for this topic though - there are numerous insurance threads in general etc. I only replied to Doggie here as it was part of another post, and then to this, because your advice is bad based on it overlooks the clauses of new for old. :/

Doggie. Hailstones are one factor, but usually it's just stones being kicked up from the cars in front. We've got a lot of relatively bad roads in Australia. I guess it's kinda like a lottery though. The difference in cost on my policy means that even if I do only have to replace the windscreen once in 10 years, it's currently about the same to take the better policy... plus I then have a hirecar and those other benefits if I'm in an accident - so it's a no brainer for me. Not everyone's situation is the same though - and costs do vary from person to person

The Adidas is subject to the drive away promotion pricing at the moment.

Therefore it should cost no more than 45990 to drive away + any options you specify in top of that.

I would suggest you go back at say 46K drive away WITH the parking sensors.

Yeah I am aware of the DriveAway Promo but I have seen it being advertised as over 51k to start with at another QLD dealership.

Maybe the competition is fiercer in NSW so they are much more willing to discount there.

In any case, no harm asking if he can throw it in

Just a quick question: does 90TSI really worth extra $2500-3000 compare to 77TSI? Seems like all you get is Cruise Control, Alloy wheels and leather gear knob (whoopy!) - does all this really cost that much extra money? You don't even get RNS510 included in 90TSI standard edition.

There are lots and lots of differences between the 77TSI and the 90TSI. Firstly, the 77TSI has basically no options - it's very "cut down and rigid".

90TSI Options which are not available on 77TSI:
Alarm System with interior monitoring and tilt sensor
Park Assist, including front/rear Optical Parking System.
    Bluetooth
    Media Device Interface (MDI)
    Electric glass sunroof

Please note that even many of the dealer accessories are either NOT AVAILABLE for installation, or work with reduced functionality with the 77TSI due to it's basic steering wheel and MFD and computer.

90TSI Standard features above the 77TSI:
    Alloy wheels (Wellington) 15 x 6½” with 195/65R15 tyres
    Anti-theft wheel bolts
    Cruise control
    Gearshift knob in leather
3 spoke leather rimmed steering wheel
    Audio and Multi-Function Display controls
    Multi-Function Display (MFD Plus)
1.4TSI Engine with 90kw/200Nm/9.5sec 0 to 100/6.4 or 6.2L/100km (improvements of 13kw/25Nm,1 second, for a decrease of 0.3L/100km in the manual or identical consumption in the DSG).

So the $3000 difference really comes in some of the things which you use all the time - engine, steering wheels, controls, instrumentation, and additionally, access to options which are not available on the 77TSI.

Is it worth it? That's up to you.

Depends what you need. I'd consider the extra 13kw to be worth $1k; cruise to be worth $500; MDI is worth $500 because I like pressing buttons; leather - it does feel nice & adds a touch of class to the car so I'd value that at $200. The wheels wouldn't do it for me, I'd rather buy some 16" of eBay for $400 with tyres
