I think I'd take anything available at this moment in time! If Highway Auto @ Springwood can't find me something then I think I'll have to take your advice Finance_Analyst and try the Gold Coast dealer.

I did find the Highway Auto ppl to be complete pricks - some rubbish about not no test drives in the GTI demo as it was grounded due to high kms or some BS like that. They lost a sale as a result. Australs are not much better, although they do let you test drive their car.

Dave Lee, Sales Manager, Wippells VW Toowoomba has stock coming soon.

A great guy to deal with - none of the Brisbane dealer posturing - best prices straight up and he delivers what he promises. Two of my mates bought from him on my recommendation.

A world apart from the Austral "what would you pay for the car?" bull****!

Except for the Chinse/Singaporean salesman there. He was arrogant, over confident, bull****ty (?) and blunt. He couldn't show me his sales records quick enough and after the test drive he wanted an answer. I walked.

I am going to guess this is the guy who basically told me to go away when they had 15 minutes till close.
He is a olive skinned guy. Looks italian to me but could be singaporean.

Scratchyratface - Really if you want a car under the free drive away deal you are going to have to ring every dealer in brisbane (including toowomba and GC) and see what they have in stock.
Then try to get the deal from one of them. If you have no luck just call all the other dealers and tell them xxxx dealer has this car in stock, will you match the price from down south.
If not your looking at only a few grand more.
The big problem with stock cars is they option them up. Not only to show off the options, but for the impulse buyer with too much money who will walk in and take whats on the floor cause he wants it today.
I have a friend just like this. Went and bought a Ducati late last year, and whilst the dealer was writing up the contract he was off sitting on other bikes asking questions about them. He was going to buy the Duc, but already wanted something else.

With most things, I find that it is a much more competitive market in Sydney/Melbourne due to more dealers, larger population etc. That is why I was told by a car wholesaler that used cars fetch a little less down there, more so if it is a prestige car due to the sheer volume. That said, I live by the saying, "If you don't ask, you don't get"....

FYI - My price for the base car (before the 18s) was $42,800. Then I got the bluetooth chucked in for free to get a car earlier!

Furthermore, that was for a 2011 build car (with the new DSG gear knob) and not a 2010 car which has been hanging around the lot for a few months now. Australs and Highway were not even in the money with this one..... And the service from GC was as good as the car itself

I second that! Also said the same for Highway (worse customer experience ever - saying something as I used to have a Mercedes!)
