I rang four dealers almost three weeks ago. Gave them the list of what I wanted, my full contact details. TOld them I was open to colour choice depending on availability and was happy with delivery from end of Q1 2011 but would put down an immediate deposit.

Also mentioned the range I was hoping to buy the car at - between $47.5k and $50k and that I had approval for Corporate Discount from HR.

To date I have not received a single return phone call from any of these dealers. Wow I guess its all great in dealerland at the moment huh?

Got a quote to lease through work but I really dont want to lease through work. Would rather buy the car myself and arrange my own financing and tax treatment.

So what am I doing wrong? This approach has worked with my last 7 cars.

Fair price IMHO depending on how much (i.e. pedantic) you are about those 200kms.

im looking at either a polo gti, or a 3dr candy white golf gti manual. no options at all, as im eyeing a set of rims myself, and i can retrofit the rns510 thru my people.
what ball park for the golf?

Recently signed a contract to purchase a brand new Golf MK6 GTI.

    - Candy White
    - 5-Door
    - Manual
    - 18" Detroit Alloy
    - Sunroof
    - MDI + iPod
    - Dynaudio Excite 300W
    - Park Assist + Rear View Camera
    - $48,500

I hope that's a fair deal, starting to feel I should get the Bi-Xenon but that would hike the cost.

Big difference in price between the two. RRP of the old polo gti was 28k whereas the base golf is 39k.

I think the drive away price of the golf is about 43k, check out the specification list on the first page and download the speadsheet,

I would go for the Bi-Xenons instead of park assist/sunroof personally but up to you of course. The sunroof apparently makes a wind buffeting sound (and can leak in the future).

Yeah - just make sure you also take the option for no windows... cause they can cause buffeting and leaks too
